In Wisconsin
Tuesday, January 4th, 2005I arrived in Wisconsin yesterday. Today, the house was bought, papers were signed, and checks were handed out and deposited. I now have two houses until January 31st.
Every once in a while I experience a feeling of disbelief that I am here and not in Arizona. The disbelief is then compounded with the re-realization that I won’t be going “home” - that I am home already and that this home, as strange as it is, is the only home I have, even if I have two houses.
It riced today. It seemed like it was raining, but it was actually raining ice…ricing. The little pellets sounded like rice grains.
The streets aren’t marked well here. Phoenix’s street signs on major thoroughfares are large, plastic, and backlighted. You can see them for a quarter mile before you actually get to the intersection. There are no street signs in Wisconsin, only the small metal ones that you have to squint at to read in the dark. None of the signs out here say “Rancho del Oro Drive.” I find myself wishing I could go back to a certain house on a certain street of that name.
Oh-con-no-mo-walk, eh?
